Katsuragi Jizoson

Temple Explanation
The stone monument engraved with the Bonji script, which is the principal image, was excavated from the ground during the Engi era (901–923). It is said that at that time it was enshrined as Jizo Bosatsu at this location, then called ‘Fujimizaka’ in Reisen-tsu, which was a beach back then. This town has never experienced a major fire, and even during the Fukuoka air raids, the fire stopped just before reaching here and the area remained unburned. It is believed that this is thanks to the Katsuragi Jizo.Address

“Prayer Breathing in the Shade of Green”
The Katsuragi Jizo, rooted in the town of kimono fabric, was presented as a forest of prayer wrapped in soft greenery. At the entrance, butterflies, symbols of life, dance gracefully, while stone carvings of sacred Sanskrit letters and statues of the Buddha quietly welcome visitors deeper inside. This space, bathed in green light, gently intertwines the presence of life and the essence of prayer, conveying a sense of peace and reverence.
